About Me
Originally from the dusty plains of west Texas, Scott Gryder is a professional cabaret entertainer in Chicago, playing such venues as 3160 (N. Clark), where he has delighted audiences for over two years with his ongoing show "SIMPLY SCOTTY" every first Sunday of the month, and Davenport's in such cabarets as "LIFE IS A CABARET! The Music & Words of Kander & Ebb," "Hooray for Hollywood," and the John Hughes inspired "I'll Stop The World and Belt With You." Favorite stage roles include "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" (Chip), "Thrill Me" (Nathan Leopold), and Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour). Scott’s known for singing zany character songs, specialty numbers, and show tunes, but he also covers the works of local talents such as Susan Werner and pop stars including Elton John. Referred to as a belting “super tenor” and a “one-man parade,” Scott further blends a musical cocktail of the zingy warbles of vintage Judy Garland with the spirited enthusiasm of the cast of Glee, paired with the poise and show business charisma of comedian Billy Crystal. Scott is an Emmy-Winning makeup artist for the national children's television show, Green Screen Adventures, for which he also performs.

Quotes from fans and press
"I think you're amazingly talented. Your act reminds me of the wonderful puppetry and humor in Howard Crabtree's early cabaret shows."
-David Rambo (songwriter)

"It's terrific! A great mix of classics from musical theatre stalwarts and a cross-section of newer writers. You have such a strong voice (and high!) and it was nice to hear you honor the original versions of songs while still managing to put your own spin on them.”
-Neil Bartram (composer)

“You've got a lovely voice, powerful at times, and should have a great career… terrific vocal chops! You should go far!"
-Alex Rybeck (music director)
